Valentine shirts

I found this cute rhinestone applique from Hobby Lobby. All you need now, is an iron and a shirt. It takes about two minuets. Then my friend had the brilliant idea to use the extra fabric from the tights to put in the middle of the heart and tie it all together. All I did was iron on some wonder under, trace and cut the heart, and then iron it on the shirt :) fast, cute and homemade.

Tights from socks

I found these knee high socks at Target (adults). It's really simple to turn them into tights for your little one. First, have your little one put them on. Match up the heels and pin where the excess is.

Flip them inside out and mark where the pin is. Remove the pin. Using your mark as a guide draw an arch of where to sew.

Sew along the line,

and trim off the excess (I kept my scraps for another project)
Repeat to other sock.

Take an old pair of tights, or a cheap new pair :) and cut off the legs.

sew on each leg, taking care to sew them facing the same way :) And viola, you have a new pair of tights.

They look a little funny until they're on, but no one can tell what's really underneath.

and really no one should be looking, but it's there....

Now she's ready for her Valentines party.

Heart ornaments and garland

I have this sweet garland chain on my banister. I added some hanging heart ornaments last night. It was really easy to make, and I love how they compliment each other.

I got this fabulous candlestick holder at the D.I. for $0.50. I love the shape and detail of it.

I gave it two coats of "October Brown" and had a rich color to match with my decor.

I flipped it upside down (which I do with MOST of my stands) and glued it to my cute heart bowl.

I LOVE the extra height, it looks perfect on my table.

Last year I went crazy with Valentine decorations. I've done a few thing this year, but I don't have room to do too much...but I couldn't pass up this cute printable. I found the vase at Michaels on sale for $1.09 and the flowers at the dollar store.

I saw a cute idea on pintrest. I already had some plans cooking in my head, and then they were elevated :) I got these cute tin mailboxes a few years back at Target. We've used them on Valentines Day for the girls little treats and cards. but I wanted them spruced up. Enter my idea, and pintrest.

Here is how sad and lonely it looks plain.

Add just a bit of vinyl, and a cute little stand...

I also switched the lids with the boxes to get two tones. I added their initial to the front.

The thing I loved the most about these bags is the ability to change them out for every occasion. But two years later, I still only have a Halloween theme...until NOW. Yay, now they have cute Valentine bags as well.

I found these tiny heart containers in the dollar section at Target. A bag of 8. They don't fit much, but I thought they would be perfect in a goodie bag full of other items. But first I had to personalize them with vinyl.

Then I found these cute colored, heart slinky's and in the bag they went.

I found that inside the little hearts, fit perfectly, three little kisses.

FREE Valentine Printables

I saw this picture on Pintrest, and LOVED LOVED LOVED it! HERE is where I found it. She has a printable, if you prefer hers, but I thought I'd whip up a couple with different number's featured. And then I wanted to add aqua. I love aqua with pink, and for Valenties Day, SUPER CUTE! I started with the number three because I figured if you only have 1 or 2 kids (like me) their prints alone might be too lonely, so you have room to add parents. So hopefully this accommodates most everyone. Above 7 I'm not sure would fit! But let me know if you need a different number, I'd love to email you one. Right click until you have the largest size and save to your computer. Add names, thumb prints, and any embellishments you want. Two will print on an 8.5'' by 11'' paper and each one measures 4''x5''

Fixing a swimming suit

My pile of "fix it's" grows too fast too often. One I've had in the pile since after summer is my daughter's two swimming suits. She has a couple with clasps like this:

However those clasps don't seem to hold up too well with my little fish. You can see the crack, and once that little piece of plastic breaks, the swimming suit no longer stays up!

So....I went to Wal-Mart and bought this kit:

I cut off the ends of her suit, 'cause the snaps I got were not heavy duty, and would never make it through all that fabric. Doing this will cause you too loose some length in the neck hole. So you may need to get heavy duty snaps to go through the thick part, if you don't want to loose any length. My daughter is actually very small through her shoulders, and neck line so I choose this option as it will end up fitting her better anyway.

Make sure you cut it just outside the hem line so you don't have to sew anything. It will leave two raw edges, but once they're trimmed they look fine :)

Then follow the directions on your snaps to properly apply. The pack I got required you to hammer the pieces together once to tool was in place. I found out however that my cropadile fit perfectly over the tool so I used that instead. I did everything else according to the instructions. If you want to use your cropadile too, here's how I set it.

The bottom of the cropadile is the "base" I just used the flattest setting on there. And it worked great.

Then on the top, there was a blank side available, so the top was completely flat, and the base was almost flat.

Here's the tool (with the pieces inside ready to push through the fabric) and my cropadile fitting over it nicely.

Do it to both ends and then you'll have a new, sturdy, snap for her to keep swimming!

Mistletoe

My friend found THIS cute tutorial. And I thought it would be a fun way to hang some mistletoe in my house. I originally tied it with red ribbon, but I didn't love it. So I found some baker's twine in red and white and used that. I LOVE it now. I was able to use all materials on hand, so it didn't cost anything and it was really easy and quick.

My friend designed this vinyl on her Gypsy after seeing a similar version. I fell in love and had to make one. I found some scrap board in my basement and adjusted her measurements to fit my board. I painted it classic red, distressed it a bit, and viola...another cute decoration for my home.

I just LOVE how it turned out.

Noel

I got this board a few years back, and have been using it in my decor even since. But the negative space to the left of "Noel" has always bothered me. So I decided it needed some sprucing up.

Here's the "after". I bought some fake holly and berries at Hobby lobby for $0.60. I cut the stem to the length I wanted. Then I wrapped the stem in jute. And hot glued it right on the board. I like it so much more now!

My cute neighbor was so excited to show me her latest craft, and as soon as I saw it I was so excited to make it! It's a beautiful tree made from wool felt. I used supplies I had on hand (and on her hand:) so it didn't cost me anything. And I JUST love the detail.

Glitter nativity

I got this beautiful glitter, vinyl Nativity a few years back, and had not done anything with it yet. I had some extra board in my basement and took it to Lowe's to be cut. I painted it a couple of different colors. The vinyl either disappeared on the lighter tones, or looked weird. I finally settled on black, even though I wasn't totally happy. I think I want to distress it up a little bit, and I'll like it more.

I love making these little garlands. Mine was inspired from THIS. I use three punches. 1 3/4, 1 1/2, and 3/4. Then I grabbed some free paint chips, and scrap paper. A LOT of punches, and a little sewing later, I had these.

So fun, easy and cheap.

My sister's wedding

My sister got married, and I had lots of fun helping her with everything. First, I threw her a shower.

I made a ton of pom pom's to hang as a focal point, and around different areas.

I made these cute labels for all the food and desserts.

I made little tags with a "K" for Kelsey, to add to the apples.

A wishing tree, I cut some branches of my tree, sprayed them cream, and stuck them in a jar with white navy beans.

I employed my Husband to make all the cranes.

Cute ladder I embellished with fun photos and love quotes.

Flower vases tutorial

I've always seen those cute flower arrangements, with silk flowers stuck in what looks like hard plastic, inside a vase. I have almost bought one a MILLION times, when it is almost just right, but I can never find the perfect one. Whether it's the type of flower, the color, or simply the size. So I realized that I could just make my own! I'm making up my girls bathroom super cute, and I can't wait to show you what I've been working on, and do a reveal.

So, gather up your items:

Silk flowers of your choice

Envirotex lite

I found some really cute vases at the D.I. I love the little Mason jar, but for this project the tall silver one fit perfect. And it was only $0.50.
First step, measure how tall you want your flowers to be. And cut them to that size.

Step 2: measure out your envirotex, if you're not using glass you can pour it straight into the vase and mix. If you're using glass, pour and mix in a separate container, and then carefully pour into your vase. Be careful not to drip it down any edge, it will dry that way :)

Then put your flowers in your vase, and if needed, prop up so they stay in place. Let dry for 24 hours.

And you have a beautiful arrangement specific to your project.

Framed Halloween Art {Tutorial}

I did these two cute framed art, and loved so much how they tured out, that I thought I'd share.

Find a cute scrapbook paper that already looks like art. Buy 2.

Cut out all the images you want to raise, and embellish.

I picked red and gold glitter to embellish with, and a rhinestone.

Add embellishments as desired. Let dry completely.

Add foam squares to the back of each image, and adhere to the untouched page.

Now all you need is a frame, and you have a beautiful piece of art.

Skeleton Mirror

I bought this mirror a while ago at Hobby Lobby for my craft shows. I tied orange ribbon around it, and I hang it from a tall hook so people can use it as they try on headbands. I saw it in my basement and decided it needed to come out for Halloween. The black with the orange screamed Halloween. Then I decided it needed a cute skeleton to go in the middle. {made of vinyl} I love it.

Mummy can

Totally stole this idea from my friend. We live right next to each other, and our houses tend to look very similar during the holidays :)
All we did was glue strips of linen on to a canning can (this is a BIG one.) Leaving a couple exposed for added detail. Then cut eyes and smile out of felt, and glued it right on top. SOOO easy and super cute!

Repurposing an old shirt

My cute sisters have the cutest clothes. They always bring me bags before they go to the DI. Some of them fit...but most of them, not so much. My little sisters are quite tiny...anyway...every now and then there is an article that doesn't fit, but I can't seem to let it go. This shirt would be one of those items...

Look at this beautiful detail....could you get rid of it??! So, I took this shirt, and turned it into another skirt, for another friend's birthday party. I really wanted to keep it for my daughter...but I stuck to my original plan, and we gave it away. :)

It turned out so cute. I can't wait to see it on her...

I had my little two year old model again...and again, it kind of worked :)

I made a matching headband, from the scrapes of the shirt.

I hope Helen likes it as much as she does!

Stain cover

My oldest got some nail polish (dark pink nail polish..) on her white shirt. I did a stain cover up HERE a while ago. While I love how it turned out.....I took a white shirt a turned it into a shirt that now COULDN'T be worn with everything. This time I wanted to only add white, so it would still be a shirt she could wear with whatever she wanted.

I did a cluster of circles to cover it up. I had to add another layer on top of the first to cover up the pink all the way. I didn't love it at first...

But I've now washed it a few times, and it's exactly what I wanted to accomplish.

Repurposing my old skirt.

I've had this skirt forever, it seems. But I only ever wore it a few times. It felt way too short. I never could bring my self to get rid of it, though. I LOVE the colors, and the subtle ruffling of the tiers. So I broke down and finally decided to get some use out of it.

I didn't really do anything amazing...I just turned it into a smaller skirt...for my daughter's friends' birthday. I made a cute matching headband...

And tried to get my two year old to model...it kind of worked..

They turned out super cute together, and a better length for a 4 yr. old! We threw in a fun toy, cause what 4 year old wants to get clothes for her birthday???

she has done his room SOOO cute, centered around this art. I had some prints in my stash from making abc books. She doesn't have either of these in his room so I framed them for her.

I got 12x12 unfinished frames at the craft store.

And painted them chocolate brown.

Golf themed-couples bridal shower

I helped my husband and MIL throw a golf shower for one of his best friends growing up. We had a lot of ideas, and I think they all came together REALLY well. Most of my contribution came from HERE. It was very kid-ish, so I aged it up a bit. And it was a HIT!

The invitations:

I took the free printable I found HERE, and added all sorts of fun stuff to make it my own, and "golf it up." My favorite part is the border of their names. (I threw my original away...and printed this off real quick to get a picture...so don't mind the quality!)

Using my cuttlebug, I embossed the brown paper backing to add intrest and texture.

We of course had to add a little pink bling for the bride-to-be.

This was a paper doll cut out I did, had framed, at the entry. These were the cute favors that a neighbor friend made. Along with a label I made, one of many :)

"time to par-TEE" banner. It really turned out quite cute.

Blanket patch job.

I made the mistake of leaving a pair of scissors in my daughters' room for nap. This is what I found when she woke up.

I rummaged through my cupboards and found a cup that covered the area well. I traced the cup on fabric my daughter chose. And ironed it on the blanket.

I top stitched it down, for added security. And thought it would be cute to add a monogram. Using my "mini monogram" cartridge, and freezer paper I was done in a jiff.

She actually likes it better this way! My other daughter, with a matching pink blanket is requesting one on hers. That means a job well done :)

I was at a loss this year, as to what we were going to do for my MIL. As I was trying to come up with a brilliant idea, unknown to me, my husband asked his Dad what he could suggest. His response was very welcome. Apparently during the holidays, she'll go home and tell my FIL how much she likes my framed art I make. I bought two frames at Hobby Lobby (50% off) and did two pictures for each of the next four holidays that we celebrate. For Fall/Thanksgiving:

Simple birthday gift

I bought this skirt at Walmart, and knew it would make a fun project. It started out white. I used my mini monograms cartridge to cut out a cute "m" for Malory. I had it cut on freezer paper. And then ironed it on to the skirt. Next I put Elmers blue gel glue over the stencil and let it dry for a few hours. Then CAREFULLY, and with the help of my cricut tools, I peeled away the freezer paper leaving a skirt with glue in the form of a monogram. Then I dyed it using RIT dye. Only I made sure there wasn't any heat in the dye bath or it would melt the glue. After dying for about 30 minuets, I washed it and this was the result. The glue washes right off, leaving a white print where the glue used to be.

Then I made this cute felt flower clip for a pop of color in her hair.

We threw in a couple of age appropriate toys and had a fun gift.

Meeting the Teacher

Today was "Meet the Teacher" at Pre-school and we wanted to bring her something. I saw this cute idea HERE. But last night my printer decided to stop working....so I had my sister hand write on the tags. Other than that it worked great.

I found this SUPER cute paper at Heartland. It's still my favorite paper store, even though it was recently bought out and has majorly changed...

One change, for the good....bakers twine. I think it turned out so cute!

Mini ruffle skirt tutorial

This tutorial makes a 3-6 month skirt. You can adjust it to the size you need. MADE has a great tutorial on that!

SUPPLIES:
Iron
shears
pins (not pictured)
1/3 yard Ruffle fabric (you will have oodles extra, I just didn't want to waste any, and this amount divides evenly into what your using...you can get 1/4 if you want...you'll still have oodles...but you'll have scraps...and an 1/8 isn't long enough...) ( I got mine locally at Material Girls. You can also find it HERE, just make sure it's the mini)
1/4 yard Coordinating fabric
measuring tape
elastic

First, cut your strips of fabric. You'll need three strips of your coordinating fabric measuring 3.5'' by 9'' (which is the length of 1/4 yard.) And one additional strip measuring 5.5'' x 18''

You'll need three strips of your ruffle fabric measuring 3.5'' by about 6.5'' (or twelve ruffles)

Get your printed fabric and fold it over an inch

Press your fold down until it's nice and crisp.

Fold it over on itself

And press again.

This will be the hem on the bottom of the skirt.

Do it to all three strips.

Sew down, using the inside edge of your presser foot as a guide.

Do it to all three.

Now, take a strip of your ruffle fabric...

And lay one of your hemmed pieces on top, so that right sides are together. Making sure all the ruffles are down before you sew.

Sew the two pieces together using the edge of your presser foot as a guide.

Do it to all three and you'll have this...

Take one of your new pieces,

and lay another on top, making sure right sides are together, and that ruffle fabric lays on printed.

Sew together down the side and open up to find this:

Next, take your last piece and again lay it on top, so that right sides are together and printed fabric is on ruffle fabric...

Using this picture as a guide, you'll be sewing down the left edge...

And now you should have this.....

Trim off all the tops of your printed fabric (but don't throw them away...)

And cut all your strings off..

Now, fold over in half, so that right sides are together, and seams line up.

Sew down the last edge using the edge of your pressure foot as a guide.

Turn it inside out and you should see this, ALMOST a skirt. Yay.

Now take your strip that's 5.5''x18''

Fold it in half,

and press it down.

Now open it up, and you'll see your pressed line

Take the edge of your fabric, and fold it up to your pressed "middle" line.

Press it down.

And do it to the other side..

now, fold this in half...

and press down

open back up, and fold edges over just a little bit

press down, and do it to both sides..

Take your piece and fold it over the raw edge of your skirt. Pining down where you need to. This will become the casing to your skirt...

Sew down, and stop about two inches before the end.

and you'll have this....

Take your elastic, and put a safety pin at the end. Thread it through the entire casing. Sew your elastic pieces together so that you have one entire piece. (not pictured) Then fold over the last two inches so that your elastic is completely hidden and your casing is one smooth piece. (not pictured) Sew down, to match your current seam allowance, clip all threads and you're done!!

Remember these pieces? Dont throw them away! They're perfect sizes to use if you want to make circles for a coordinating onsie embellishment...or to cover buttons for a cute headband!

My friend Alana just had a baby girl, and I was inspired to make her a gift around gray, yellow and pink. This is what I came up with:

Baby shower decorations

My SIL just threw a shower for two of her friends that are expecting girls. She went with an owl theme, and I thought I'd make some of my signature shower items if she wanted. We went to Heartland {{my ALL time favorite paper store}} and picked out some cute paper. I made each one of the girls a sleeping sign. Using all of the same paper, but in different arrangements.

I added a little owl on to match in with the theme.
and cut out "baby" with glitter paper
A baby banner to hang, for part of the decor.

I embossed both the brown paper, and the white.

and then I cut out 20 little owls for her to put on the straws.

I've made some more decorations to add to my banners and star art...

My mantle, I love the tiny garland. I made it using paint chips from Home Depot, cutting out stars, and sewing them in a long line.

My friend made this printable, I printed it off and framed it.
I made these cute pinwheels from a printable, and put them in vases with colored beans.

4th of July crafts

My MIL got my girls the cutest shirts for my girls for the 4th. So I just had to make cute headbands to go with it. I did four layers of felt, and three flowers. Then I just glued them on a piece of ribbon, and tied it in the back. Super easy, and super cute.

Then I wanted to make a craft with my girls. I saw THIS cute tutorial, and knew I wanted to do it. I cut up some crayons in red, white, and blue. Then I mixed the solution. My daughter poured it into the molds, and then both daughters helped me put the crayons in the mixture.

We only waited 24 hours, instead of the 72, and they were just fine. Then we glued a bail on the back, and threaded it through a ribbon necklace. I love how they turned out.
We even made two extra for their cousins.

Father's Day

My Dad is in town this year, so not only do we get to celebrate my husband being a Father, but I get to spend it with my Dad too! I set up a station for them as soon as they went to bed Saturday night.

I printed off this cute banner, and put it at the center of everything.
For my Dad, I did these retro soda labels over orange soda. Which actually has special meaning. Then I printed off this cute Dad printable and framed it for him.

My husband and his Dad love to golf together. So for Father's Day, when I saw this cute printable, I knew I had to do it for both. For his dad, I got a Nordstrom shirt box, put some astro turf in it. And then placed the little present next to it. It was really easy, cheap, and meaningful. My favorite kind of gift.

Baby Boy

My cute sister is always sharing her talents with me....her expensive, amazing talents. So I try to give back as much as I can. She bought a pack of onsies and asked if I would make her a cute boy gift and a cute girl gift. So here is what I came up with for the boy:

A trio of transportation. I painted them on a gray scrap of fabric, using the freezer paper method, and with the help of my gypsy. Than I sewed it on the onsie.

A cute sail boat applique, also using my gypsy and cricut to cut it out. Then I ironed it on the onsie.

I threw in a couple of other items for her:

A crinkle taggie toy
And cute little monster.

A few months ago...maybe 9 or 10, my friends were all pregnant and having cute little babies. And I was busy making them all presents. Well, it's happening again, with a different group of girls, of course. And I will probably be busy again! So my friend Natalie....our girls (her oldest, my youngest) are weeks apart and the cutest little things you'll ever see. They're both TINY for their age (3% ish) and are so cute cute together. Well, she is prego with her second, and it's a boy! So for her I made:

A burp cloth and matching taggie toy.
Pee-teepee's
with co-ordinating fabric on the inside.
And a cute simple, diaper cake. With a quilted note card in matching fabric.

I volunteered to make 11 flags for trek. Thankfully it only took my one day to accomplish them, so I could move on to more "fun" items.. I am grateful that I have abilities to serve my church...and very happy to do it...but lets be honest. It's not always fun. So I cranked them out, got 'em done, and they're ready to be colored, tagged, and represent!

Wedding bouquet

My cute little sister asked me if I would make a wedding bouquet for her. She's not getting married (it's a long story...) but sent me this picture of her previous bridals, as a guide to make it.

And this is what I came up with. I LOVE it. I did it a little fuller than her first, real one...but I think it is just beautiful.
Pretty close....for the synthetic version, don't you think?
So I had to get a few shots of it, enjoy!

Feeling Patriotic?

Let me start off by saying I LOVE my country! L.O.V.E. LOVE all the brave men and women who have and continue to fight for our freedom and comforts....well having said that, I never decorate for the 4th of July. I don't like the colors, and have never felt inspired to decorate my home in them...well I've been on such a decorating kick this year, and I am VERY patriotic, so I got over my issues, and made a few decorations, with more to come of course.

Framed art

"Freedom" banner. My friend picked out the paper, and asked if I wanted to use her extra's to make one of my own! Well I just loved the papers she chose, so I made two!

And "liberty". I Can't wait to hang them up, and make more to go along with them.

This was the best shot I could get of the white paper. We embossed it with a script print, that just looked perfect for this theme!

My poor stash of "floss" has looked like this for a while. Just shoved into one of my sewing drawers. A while back I came across the cutest little printables for winding thread. When I finally got around to having time, I couldn't find the website where they were. I was SO sad. But randomly another blog I follow featured the printable because they had just used it. YAY! I had it again. And I was ready. So I took this crazy pile...

Books

These books have been on my "to-do" list for a while. And now that I'm not as busy, I am finishing projects, getting things out of the way...I got this paper over two years ago, and still haven't finished, until now. At least it's in time for my second to enjoy!

I made a few of them, and they are all a little different.

So far my girls LOVE them. The others will be gifted.
Book two. I got the idea HERE. I knew I wanted to do it, just a little differently.
I wanted to back all the paint chips on paper so you didn't see the ugly bar code and writing on the back, but that gave the book extra pages, so I just cut out letters and put all the names next to the color.
Then I took it to Office Max and had it bound for $1!
I also LOVE how this turned out, and it already has some good use from the girls. My oldest asked why there wasn't a page for gray. (It's her favorite color....)

All the colors I have are:

Pink, white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and black. There are enough hue's to do light and dark. colors, but I went for simple....

Potty Chart

My two year old is ready to potty train. So I made her a simple chart to put stickers on as we attempt to do away with diapers....

Hopefully soon the pink will be covered in stickers and no more trips to Costco (for diapers) will be required!

More projects

More projects for my MIL. She's announcing her leader that is recently pregnant by hanging this banner at mutual tonight. I used birthday banner printables that I already had, then I just printed off the new letters I needed, and covered up the birthday letters.

From the same printables I used the cupcake toppers and covered up the images with my own. I glued them at different heights on popsicles sticks, and stuck them in glass jars full of split peas. Super cute and easy.

Then, for a 5K the Young Women are doing, my cute MIL wanted to give them a reminder on Sunday. So she wanted to make a cute water bottle label to put around their own bottle.
I had her pick her favorite design again, and this happened to be an easter one. There is a bunny hiding under the label. She gave me all the information and I formated it to fit right in the design. Turned out pretty cute.

Kit Kat cake

I made this kit kat cake for Mother's Day/my daughter's 4th birthday. I saw the idea HERE. I knew I had to try it. It was fairly simple, but for the record you need 11 pkgs. of kit kat's, and at least two bags of M&M's..
I made it with two 9" round cakes stacked...pretty easy.

A simple box of cards for my MIL. I picked out papers that reminded me of her and made simple but beautiful cards. She is a card person and always has oodles on hand. A while ago she showed me a sample of this simple card with a coordinating strip around the middle and told me she would pay me to make some for her. I pretended to forget/be busy...and "never got around to it" until now. She loved 'em, and I had fun making them for her.

I have been finishing up two Easter projects that I didn't get to until now. I decided that it is indeed less fun to make crafts for a holiday that already happened, so the rest of my ideas will wait 'till next year. I hate putting them away in a box for another year...but I'm glad I finished them.

Cute pinecone looking eggs. My friend and I did, we got the idea HERE. I supplied the pins...well most of them. And she supplied the eggs, and paper. I think I will display them on different height stands...we'll see. But I think they are just beautiful.

And yarn carrots. We found HERE. Super easy and cute. My friend supplied the yarn for these....she's a good friend :) They turned out really cute. I have A LOT more I want to do for Easter...but next year.

Teacher Appreciation

Teacher appreciation starts today. It's a whole week of showing love to those who raise are children while we are not! And I am SO thankful for them. My kids are very much like me, and respond better to outside sources for learning. My Dad attempted to teach us piano when we were little....FAIL. My Mom attempted home school with me in the fifth grade....FAIL. (which btw, if you're reading, I'm sure you did an excellent job...it was me...) So again I am VERY thankful to those who teach, inspire, and help my kids grow. I knew when I saw this idea on Skip to my Lou, that this was the gift I wanted to give Aubree's Pre-school teacher.
I took Aubree to Wal-Mart and had her pick out some flowers. We came home and found this cute pitcher in my "I'm-not-sure-why-I-have-you-but-I-know-I'll-use-you" pile, and viola....a beautiful gift.
I printed out the cute cute tag, from said blog...and used a scallop punch I have to make it extra cute. Hope she likes it.

Lil' Diaper cake

Another request from my MIL. She picked up all the stuff and asked me to assemble it. I had 100 diapers ( I used about 65) A bottle, a pack of wash cloths, a Johnson's to-go kit, and some ribbons. This is what I came up with.
She wanted it cute, but simple. She had already done a bigger gift at the shower, but she wanted all the girls in YW to present this to her. (It's on of her YW's Mom who just had the baby.) She is the cutest President E.V.E.R.

Wonder Pets

My daughter got invited to a Wonder Pets party. I've never seen or heard of it, so I did a little research. Well, my daughter really wanted to get her a purple fairy barbie. So I thought I throw in a shirt also to add to the theme of her party. On the back I painted the logo for the Wonder Pets. Using the freezer paper method.
And I was crunched for time, so on the front just one of them. But I thought she was the cutest.. I didn't even have time to sew it on. So hopefully the iron on holds up.
And a close up. All the pieces are random fabrics, knit, cotton, printed cotton, and for the eyes I used fabric paint. It turned out pretty cute. Too bad I don't have a better camera to capture it all....

A gift

My sister found this HUGE egg at Hobby lobby. She wanted to decorate for her boyfriend for Easter. And then fill it. Little did we know inside that huge egg was another egg, and another. So we decorated all three. I came up with the idea of vinyl. So it's not girly. it's still springy and Eastery but not girly. We did it around the egg, but I only took shots of my favorite angles. For the smallest egg:

Eggs...Eggs..and more eggs

It seems like most of my decorations are becoming eggs. My friend found all these cute ideas of covering cheap easter eggs. So we have started to make 'em. With more on the horizon!

First: Newspaper, sheet music (fake, it's actually scrapbook paper) and twine. I love the earthy look of these. I might make more. I can't decide if I have enough. The newspaper is a PAIN to adhere to plastic eggs....so we learned quick and used paper mache eggs to cover the rest. MUCH easier. And all we did is cut strips and mod podge it all on. We hot glued the twine on.

Second:

Fabric covered. Same concept. Strips and modge podge. The trick is to use a similar colored eggs as your fabric...and it looks awesome! I loved doing these ones.

I even put a few around the house in my little egg holders. (you probably saw them in my last post with out any explanations...that's what they were :)

Easter garlands

I jumped on the bandwagon for paint chip egg garlands. how can you beat FREE? They turned out lovely. This one is too full, so it just looks like a rainbow...I will be thinning it out so it looks more like my other one.

Here, you can actually tell they're eggs. SUPER cute idea.

And I got this printable on a link from Tip Junkie. It is AWESOME. 30 something pages of printables for Easter...for free. I printed off this cute banner. One year when I host a party, I 'll definitely be using the whole package.

Easter Decorations

I am now, finally getting around to Easter. And it's tomorrow. So for the few decorations I had this year...

I got this chipboard egg forever ago..and covered it last year. It's not my favorite. But since I have so little..it's adds a lot!

That is a real chocolate bunny my kids got last year from grandma. I didn't want them to eat it. So it became decor. And they never knew!
I got that bunny from my MIL a few years ago. It was hunter green with raffia and spackles. I painted and covered it with a more springy feel.
I got this cute bunny from my MIL. The basket from Heartland about 3 years ago. And I covered it cutely. (Cute eggs in another post :)
That's all I had to start with. I've made a couple of other things. And I think I'll keep making more, since there isn't another holiday for a while.

Wedding shirts

These shirts were made to wear with the can can skirts. 5 in all. Embellished with rosettes of varying sizes and color.These three are for the older girls, similar in style, but we mixed it up with the placement of colors and sizes.
Around the neck I sewed this beautiful pleated ribbon we found at Hobby Lobby.
Two will be in onsies, we didn't want the embellishments too heavy for them.

I LOVE how they turned out. I also made her veil, which I forgot to picture. I'll just get a copy from her photographer. 'Cause you know I'll have to document it :) Now I'm off to the wedding in 2 days!!!! California here I come.

Easter art

Easter, sadly, will be a little neglected since I have to finish all the wedding stuff...and celebrate husband's big 3-0 birthday. But I do have more plans because I have about three easter decorations to my name...and I definitely need more. This is what I have had time to make so far....

I LOVE this printable. I can't find where I got it...surprise surprise...but she has two others that I need to find space for because they are SO cute.
Every season I have to have my specimen art somewhere. This year eggs of course. My friend had the brilliant idea to "crack" her glitter egg. Naturally I had to copy...I just love it. And for now, in combo with my other pathetic decorations, you can at least see a taste of spring.

More wedding

More wedding items that I made: (thankfully the wedding is almost here and I will have a lot of free time :)

First off, some changes...The Groom's boutonniere, instead of a flat backing of netting, the bride wanted more of a "messy" look. So I smooshed some netting back there and glued it all together..I agree, I like it better.
Second change..her garter. She liked this pleated ribbon a lot better than the stretchy ribbon I used. And again, I agree :)
I sewed a little of the original ribbon in the back so it could stretch. And viola..done.
Next up....5 Can Can skirts from Dana over at Made.
I am definitely making these for my girls. They're a little time consuming...but the actual work is easy.
The sizes I made range from 0-3 months to 10. I love all the ruffles....so sweet.

Baptism bracelet

My 11, almost 12 year old niece Tori, has made an important decision. She has decided to become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. And we couldn't be more proud. I wanted to make her something special to remember this day. Something she could wear on the day and after. This is what I came up with.

It's the same design as the YW bracelets I made for my mil's yw. But instead of value colors...I did all white with silver spacers. I hope she likes it. I think it turned out sweet.

Argyle onsie

My best friend's wedding

I just had to title it that. ;) I have moved around so much that I feel like I have many friends with the title "best". Representing a different time in my life. This friend, Chelsea I grew up with in California and later became roommates in college. Her at BYU and myself at UVSC. Well she has found the one, and we are doing a wedding. The bulk of her family still live in California, so I'm helping out as much as I can. And being a bride's maid it is my duty, right? So so far this is what I have finished...

5 BIG alligator clips

6 hard headbands, with the same arrangement.

Boutonnieres for adults, kids and small kids..:) 15 total.

1 soft headband, and 1 garter. Identical in design.

St. Patrick Day Party

I thought it would be fun this year to host a green party in honor of St. Patrick's day, so I sent out some invitations.. nice and simple, but cute.

Printed of some decorations...
And set it all up. We even had green packets to mix in our water bottles.

And I wanted to make these mint oreo pops as a favor. Then I remembered I had already made favors...but you can never have to many. :)

St. Patrick's Day shirts

Some holidays I LOVE the shirts available and some, not so much. This usually determines if I make or buy them themed clothes. This year I wasn't impressed with any St. Patrick Day shirts that we're ready made. So I made a pair for my little munchkins. It was SUPER easy and SUPER fast! I bought an iron on embellishment from Hobby Lobby in the shape of a shamrock, ironed it on :) and added "Lucky" using my cricut and the freezer paper method. It took all of about 40 mins. for both shirts and cost $4.00 each.

I had to, of course, make matching shamrock clips for the back of their pony's...together they'll make a stinkin' cute pair.

Yw theme bracelets

Another thing my cute mil wanted to do for her girls. Bracelets with the yw value colors to give to them on their birthdays. She found this design and loved it. She ordered the beads with instructions and asked if I would assemble them for her. It was easy, and I love it so much I may be doing something with them in the future...

"A Believing Heart"

The theme for YW this year is: We Believe. My mil is the yw president in her ward and she asked me to help out with some decorations for new beginnings. They wanted to center it around "A Believing Heart."

She wanted the colors to be black, silver and white. Very classy and neat. With splashes of red for the heart. I wanted to incorporate scallops in everything. So this is what we came up with:

The invitation. Made with my cricut and cuttlebug.
The program, also made with my cricut and cuttlebug.
Favors, a simple silver chain with round pendant that says "believe" on a cardstock cut out using my cricut and cuttlebug. Michelle always wraps it up cute.
She had these plants around the room, with hanging hearts from the center. I wish I got a picture of it set up in the room because it looked beautiful...here...not so much. A banner that says "a believing heart"

We also made 15 11'' hearts that had all the values and quotes on them, and 60 little hearts that the yw put on each person as they came into the room, and a big vinyl cut out for the wall in the yw room. (none of this pictured)

And right now I'm working on making one of these for each of the yw to put on their walls in their room.

One more addition

We had another craft day at my neighbor's house. So I made one more addition for my house. And I just think it is lovely. It's hard to see what it says, so I took a few shots. The font is absolutley perfect.

It says "kiss me" with a shamrock in between the words. We are all set for St. Patty's Day.

I made this lucky banner last year. I used my crop-a-dile to punch holes through the coins. I love it!

This sweet garland is from my friend Natalie's pattern. You can find the pattern/instructions HERE. I was able to just use scraps I had layin' around. Those are the best projects. One thing I did do different from her instructions...I top stitched each scallop after I turned them around, so they would lay flatter. I like the look a lot better.

So I made two. One for my mantle and one to hang with my pictures.

Re purposed for St. Patrick's Day

Project 2: Take an old Christmas decoration..and turn it into something cute.

I took apart the WHOLE thing. Re glued weak areas..saved the panes of glass that weren't painted, filled in the lettering so it was a smooth surface, painted the whole thing black. Glued the plain glass back in, and re strung the pieces together. At that point it looked SO SO cute but still plain. So I took three shamrocks I made from this tutorial, and put it all together.
The cream tulle was an inspiration from my friend. It finished it quite nicely. I love it!

A table runner for St. Patrick's Day

My husband is SO OVER the pink, glitter, love...and is VERY ready for a change. I just loved all my Valentine decor..but it was a bit girly. Hopefully the green will help erase the memories. My first project. A cute seersucker table runner.

I had a little extra fabric, and thought it would be cute to add a little embellishment to each end. And ruffles will never let you down!
In the center; shamrocks, gold and a sweet candle.

For my girls this year I wanted to make them pajamas. They turned out okay. But I literally didn't have the time to do anything else. It's amazing these got done in time for our mini vacation.

My older daughter is always putting my shirts on. This particular shirt I never wore. So I took it in, added some hearts and a cute aplique. And now it's her nightgown.
Pretty simple, pretty cute.
My youngest daughter got pants and a shirt. I took an old pair of my jammie pants. (That I got for Valentines Day YEARS ago.) And turned them into jammie pants for her. Added four layers of ruffles...which looks A LOT cuter on. And paired it with a wal-mart shirt. I added the cute hearts..and Viola. Valentine jammies for my girls.
